Growth forecasted for analytical and life science industry

The analytical and life science instrument industry is forecasted to grow at a rate of 6.9% in 2004, according to data released by Strategic Directions International (SDi). The market for analytical and life science instruments is said to have grown an estimated 6.8% in 2003 to more than $25 billion.

Among the instrument segments estimated to achieve double-digit revenue growth in 2004 are liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry, quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry and microarrays. A recent edition of the Instrument Business Outlook newsletter details the findings, including forecasts for liquid phase instrumentation, mass spectrometry and gas phase instrumentatation.
