The basic principle of hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC) is to work with a polar stationary phase (bare silica or polar bonding) and a highly organic mobile phase (>70% acetonitrile). It is thus a powerful approach to retain polar compounds and it is also a good alternative to reversed-phase LC for the analysis of ionizable compounds of diverse polarity, often encountered in the pharmaceutical field.

In this web seminar, we will explore the possibilities and limitations of HILIC using columns packed with sub-2-µm fully porous particles and sub-3-µm core-shell particles. The emphasis will be on kinetic performance, generic method development, the applicability of HILIC to a wide range of compounds (including polar compounds, ionizable compounds, and peptides) and a comparison of performance with reversed-phase LC.
