Fasha (Farshad) Mahjoor, CEO of Phenomenex (California, USA), has been elected to the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region Board of Directors. The appointment follows the award of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor to Mahjoor earlier this year, for building a socially responsible international business and for his humanitarian efforts in the USA and worldwide.
The L.A. volunteer-led region is the second largest in the USA, serving 88 cities, and providing relief for victims of natural or man-made disasters. In 2012 alone, nearly 160,000 people were trained in life-saving skills, including CPR and first aid, as a result of the Red Cross’s work.
Mahjoor said: “I am honoured to be invited to be an American Red Cross Board Member. It is a privilege, and I will carry on the duties to the best of my ability. I hope I can be a valuable member and that my contributions will make a real difference.”
“We welcome Mr Mahjoor to this board of talented and respected business leaders who are committed to helping others,” said Board Chair Martin Cozyn, Executive Vice President, Human Resources at Occidental Petroleum. “Working with five local chapter boards — in Long Beach, Santa Monica, Pasadena, Glendale, and Antelope Valley — we ensure the Red Cross is there to assist families and individuals across the region.”
