Thermo Fisher Scientific (Massachusetts, USA) has acquired picoSpin (Colorado, USA), the company credited with the creation of the world’s first miniature nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer. picoSpin first introduced the award-winning shoebox-sized NMR spectrometer in 2010.
“Adding picoSpin’s unique product offerings to our existing capabilities in spectroscopy enables us to offer an even broader suite of chemical analysis,” said John Sos, vice president and general manager, molecular spectroscopy, Thermo Fisher Scientific. “Bringing NMR capabilities to new markets where its practicality has been limited represents significant value for our customers.”
The acquisition strengthens Thermo Fisher Scientific’s analytical chemistry portfolio, allowing expansion of the tools available to researchers working within academia and industry. picoSpin is expected to be integrated into the analytical technologies segment of Thermo Fisher.
