Waters (Massachusetts, USA) has announced the introduction of the University of Northern Texas (UNT) (Texas, USA) metabolomics and metabolic signalling pathway research laboratory to its Waters Centres of Excellence Innovation Programme. The program recognizes and supports leading analytical scientists, facilitating breakthroughs in health and life science research, food safety, environmental protection, sports medicine and many other areas.

Directed by Professor Vladimir Shulaev, the laboratory part of UNT’s Plant Signalling Cluster, focuses primarily on developing understanding of plant cellular communication pathways with a view to identify solutions to problems related to agriculture, energy, nutrition and medicine.

Representing UNT, Provost Warren Burggran addressed an audience at the announcement and said, “I’m really proud to be representing UNT here to celebrate the opening of this exciting Centre of Innovation. This is a university-corporate partnership at its very best. To use a biology metaphor, we look forward to a long, close symbiotic relationship between UNT and Waters; it’s a natural fit, a really natural fit, and we’ll each benefit tremendously.”
