Time for a Change? Changing Solvents, Acids, and Reagents in Analysis Methods

Thu, Nov 30, 2023 2:00 PM EST{LOCAL_TZ}

Event Overview:

In the past few years, regulatory agencies in the United States and around the world have suggested limiting or banning widespread use of reagents and compounds due to a variety of reasons from laboratory safety to national security. Some of these popular solvents have been imbedded in accepted methodology for decades, making them difficult to replace. This webinar will look at the chemistry and use of reagents in order for analysts to start the process of choosing other materials to replace chemicals coming under restriction. The webinar will also examine the common use and application for solvents, acids, and reagents in addition to the physical and chemical properties of these materials.

Key Learning Objectives:
  • Examine the physical and chemical properties of various common solvents, acids, and reagents.
  • Understand the types, grades, and purity of materials and how those factors influence use.
  • Review the upcoming bans on chemical materials and understand the process to begin selecting replacement materials.
Who Should Attend:
  • Analytical Chemists
  • Organic Chemists
  • Mass Spectroscopy Scientists
  • Inorganic Chemists
  • Chromatographers
  • Research Chemists
