Michel Suman is the Food Safety & Authenticity Research Manager at Barilla Spa and an Adjunct Professor at Catholic University Sacred Heart. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Suman specializes in food safety and authenticity research, focusing on contaminants, adulterants, and authenticity markers in food processing. Known for pioneering innovative technologies. In academia, Dr. Suman has served as an Adjunct Professor of AgriFood Authenticity at Catholic University Sacred Heart since 2020. He later became a Visiting Professor of Food Chemistry & Technology at the University of Chemistry & Technology in Prague in 2023.

He plays a prominent role in advancing food safety and authenticity standards, serving as Chair of the Italian National Normative Organization's Food Authenticity Working Group and as a member of the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA). Additionally, Dr. Suman is actively involved in various EU committees and scientific advisory boards, contributing expertise on toxins, contaminants, and food authenticity. With a robust academic record, Dr. Suman has published over 130 papers in international ISI journals, authored six book chapters, and edited significant works in the field. He has presented at over 180 national and international conferences and is set to co-chair the Recent Advances in Food Analysis (RAFA) Conference series starting in 2024. With an H-index of 32 on Google Scholar, Dr. Suman is recognized as a leading figure in food safety and authenticity research.
