Significant Costs Savings Achieved Through the Development of a New Analytical Method for Residual API Analysis, with a Kinetex® 1.7 μm Core-Shell UHPLC Column
A new analytical method was developed which is capable of analysing 16 different API residues from production surfaces. It has been shown that the 1.7 µm Kinetex 100 x 2.1 mm column was capable of resolving 16 different chemical entities with a 6 minute run time. This new analytical method will be used to replace 16 older methods thereby facilitating an annualized cost saving for the site of € 320,000.

Upcoming Webcasts

The CHROMacademy Essential Guide- Introduction to Ion Chromatography, Tuesday, August 16, 2011, 11:00 AM EDT; 4:00 BST
The Essential Guide from LCGCs CHROMacademy present an educational webcast on the fundamental principles of ion chromatography. In this session, Dr. Ken Cook (Bio-Separations Manager, Dionex) and Tony Taylor (Technical Director, Crawford Scientific), present a definitive guide to the fundamental theory and instrumentation of ion chromatography. The session will consider the underlying theory of the technique, column and eluent selection and key separation variables, as well as the various techniques used for ion suppression and detection.

The Renaissance of Hydrodynamic Chromatography as an Alternative Use for Size Exclusion Chromatography in Ultra-High Molar Mass Polymers Analysis, Wednesday, August 24, 2011, 11:00 AM EDT
This presentation will focus on using multidetector HDC for the characterization of mono- and poly-disperse spherical and non-spherical particles in the form of nanoparticles and colloidal assemblies, as well as ultra-high molar mass polymers. Multidetector HDC analysis will be compared and contrasted to multidetector SEC analysis, at times shown to be superior to the latter, as well as a discussion on the use of multi-detector HDC analysis to provide a more complete picture of the analytes than methods such as transmission electron microscopy.

Recent Developments in GC-MS for Trace Analysis, Tuesday, September 13, 2011, 11:00 AM EDT
This seminar will address recent developments in mass spectroscopic techniques coupled to gas chromatography. While GC coupled to single quadrupole MS or to ion trap MS has become a workhorse in laboratories performing environmental, food quality control, and toxicological and doping analyses, new types of mass spectroscopic analyzers are currently introduced in these application areas. The exponential growth in mass spectrometric techniques, including triple quadrupole and time-of-flight instruments, has opened new perspectives. The increased MS performance resulting from the use of those instruments is very useful to meet new regulatory requirements and to quantify and identify more contaminants at lower trace levels.
