Recent Innovations in QuEChERS in Food Safety Sample Preparation and Analysis

In 2003, a landmark paper (J. AOAC Int. 2003, 86, 412-31) entitled "Fast and easy multiresidue method employing acetonitrile extraction/partitioning and 'dispersive solid-phase extraction' for the determination of pesticide residues in produce" introduced the method of QuEChERS, an acronym for the "Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe" procedures. In less than ten years time, QuEChERS has "evolutionized" food safety preparation procedures and it has probably been tried, evaluated, or used in practically every pesticide laboratory in the world.
