Applications Chemist
Element
Colin Hastie has 20 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry. He has worked as an application chemist for over five years, providing technical support for customers within the UK and Ireland. This has included general analytical chemistry, instrumental techniques, sample preparation, analytical method development, data analysis, and interpretation. His previous role was as a study director for analytical studies to support the environmental risk assessment for a global consumer goods company. As well as analytical method development, Colin carried out environmental monitoring campaigns. Colin holds a Master’s Degree in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry for Environmental monitoring from Lancaster University. His Ph.D. was on developing and deploying novel passive sampling phases for environmental analysis of household and personal care products.

LC–MS/MS-Based System Used to Profile Ceramide Reactions to Diseases
April 26th 2024Scientists from the University of Córdoba in Córdoba, Spain recently used liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) to comprehensively profile human ceramides to determine their reactions to diseases.
High-Throughput 4D TIMS Method Accelerates Lipidomics Analysis
April 25th 2024Ultrahigh-pressure liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-HRMS) had been previously proposed for untargeted lipidomics analysis, but this updated approach was reported by the authors to reduce run time to 4 min.
