Shimadzu’s New Innovations in Analytical Instrumentation for Fuels and Energy
Tyler Roberts, M.Sc., from Shimadzu Scientific Instruments, details the new Nexis™ SCD-2030, ELEM-SPOT™, and Brevis™ GC-2050 innovations designed to boost sensitivity and efficiency for analysis in the sustainable fuels and energy industries.
Shimadzu’s latest analytical tools support the evolving needs of modern fuels testing. The Nexis™ SCD-2030 uses a horizontal-burner design to reduce dead volume, achieve sensitivity down to 4 ppb, and provide equimolar response for straightforward, single-injection calibration. ELEM-SPOT™, one of the first oxygen-sensitive detection systems, combines GC separation with isotopic labeling to enable precise speciation and quantification of oxygenates; this makes it useful for process control in sustainable-fuel and renewable-energy applications. The Brevis™ GC-2050 adds versatility in a compact footprint, and features like eco-idling help reduce power and gas consumption during idle periods.
