Luciana da Costa Carvalho, PhD, is a University of Oxford researcher whose work bridges archaeological science, heritage conservation, and analytical chemistry. She is a researcher whose work bridges archaeological science, heritage conservation, analytical chemistry, and public engagement. She is a Research Associate in the School of Archaeology and a postdoctoral researcher in the McCullagh Group in the Department of Chemistry. Her current research applies a range of analytical techniques, including thermal desorption–GC–MS, to investigate modern pesticide residues associated with archaeological metal objects, volatile chemical signals involved in floral mimicry, and potential carcinogens in incense smoke.
