Researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Beijing, China) developed a method for analyzing human thrombin using affinity probe capillary electrophoresis (CE) with laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) detection. The affinity probe was a specific aptamer. They were able to separate the human thrombin affinity complex from unbound aptamer and identify it based on its fluorescence polarization and migration. They also investigated the effect of various metal cations on the human thrombin–aptamer binding.
