Despite the recognized value that diverse backgrounds bring to chemistry, retaining and promoting highly qualified individuals from underrepresented backgrounds is a major concern. Diversity statements are often not sufficient. Diversity is a noun and that without efforts to include (a verb), little progress can be made.
