Poisoned by Plastic, The Analysis of BPA and its Derivatives in Water Bottles (PRP-1)
Author(s)Hamilton Company
This study analyzed BPA and its derivatives leaching from BPA-free polycarbonate water bottles using HPLC with UV detection and found that these bottles still contain bisphenol derivatives that can leach into water or ethanol. Leaching increased with temperature and was more pronounced with ethanol than hot water. Repeated washing with either hot water or 40% ethanol effectively removed leachable bisphenols without damaging the bottles.
