A two-dimensional gas chromatography-time-of-flight mass spectrometry method detects legacy pesticides and PCBs below guideline levels.

Allan Polidoro is a researcher in analytical chemistry at the Department of Environmental and Prevention Sciences of the University of Ferrara. He obtained his master’s degree and his Ph.D. in chemistry at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). Throughout his academic training, he has developed expertise in comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) and liquid chromatography (LC), both coupled to mass spectrometry (MS), and supported by multivariate analysis and chemometric methods. Since joining the University of Ferrara in 2024, his research has focused on developing multi-omics analytical strategies, targeted and non-targeted analyses, and chromatographic workflows for environmental, biological, food, and energy-related matrices.
