Lorna Nisbet

Lorna Nisbet earned her PhD in Forensic Toxicology from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, in 2016. She also holds an MSc in Forensic Toxicology from the University of Glasgow, Scotland and a BSc (Hons) in Analytical and Forensic Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. Lorna is the Principal Investigator for Forensic Toxicology at the Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science, University of Dundee, where Lorna oversees the forensic toxicology research portfolio and leads the part-time fully distance Drug Analysis and Toxicology MSc programme. Her primary area of research focuses on new psychoactive substances, including their detection in seized materials, workplace, clinical and forensic samples.

Lorna is the immediate past chair of the LTG (formally London Toxicology Group), a board member of the European Workplace Drug Testing Society (EWDTS) and a member of the Society of Forensic Toxicology (SOFT), and the United Kingdom and Ireland Association of Forensic Toxicology (UKIAFT). She is a Chartered Chemist with the Royal Society of Chemistry and a grant reviewer for the organisation. Additionally, she is Lorna also serves on the Advisory Council for the Misuse of Drugs and is the Co-Director of the National Testing and Research Laboratory.
