Low-pressure gas chromatography (LPGC)–MS should be the first option in many GC–MS applications to provide fast, sensitive, and robust analyses; and the installation, instrumentation, and implementation of LPGC is possible in any GC–MS system.
The occurrence of additives, such as plasticizers in plastic food packaging, has been documented, but information on their potential migration into foods is limited. In this pilot study, 2D GC–MS was used to identify chemicals extracted from a common stretch plastic film with a series of organic solvents.
In this study, chemicals extracted from a food packaging plastic film with a series of organic solvents were tentatively identified with comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography coupled to time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC×GC–TOF–MS). A total of 91 compounds were tentatively identified in the film extracts, based on high mass spectral matching with the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) mass spectral (MS) library.

A rapid, high-throughput analytical method was developed and evaluated for the simultaneous determination of pesticides and environmental contaminants in fish.
This method allows for quick sample preparation of fish samples for the fast analysis of almost 200 targeted contaminants, including PAHs, PCBs, PBDEs, and flame retardants.
