LCGC's coverage of ASMS, day one, from Philadelphia.
June 1 — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — Good morning, and welcome to this, the opening day of LCGC’s and Spectroscopy’s ASMS E-Show Dailies from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. For the next three days, we will be covering all that is new and exciting at ASMS this year, from technical sessions to plenary lectures to the social networking that is a big part of any conference.
June 1 — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — Elemental mass spectrometry mainly targets inorganic materials, determining elemental compositions of samples rather than providing structural information. This session will cover topics such as bioimaging of metals in brain tissue, the analysis of chemical warfare agent degradation products, and the separation and quantitation of antisense oligonucleotides.
June 1 — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — In an effort to reduce the number of potential drugs that fail during clinical development, drug companies are increasingly looking to human microdosing.
The TSQ Module™ works with industry-leading Watson™ Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Thermo Scientific TSQ Series LC-MS/MS to simplify bioanalytical workflow in regulated laboratories. This industry-first built-in data interchange enables direct data acquisition, peak integration and re-integration, storage, archiving, and reporting – in one central database.
June 1 — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — After a day filled with registration and short courses, Willard W. Harrison kicked off a series of three lectures with his tutorial lecture on Sunday night at the 57th ASMS Conference held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
June 1 — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — The official opening session and Plenary Lecture featured a talk from Jerald L. Schnoor, of the University of Iowa, entitled, “Biofuels and Global Climate Change.” This topic was especially fitting for the June conference as gas prices and temperatures are on the rise once again this summer.
June 1 — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — After the show and the hospitality suites, here’s a few dinner places I have tried within a short distance from the Convention center area and found to be worth the effort!

LC–MS/MS-Based System Used to Profile Ceramide Reactions to Diseases
April 26th 2024Scientists from the University of Córdoba in Córdoba, Spain recently used liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) to comprehensively profile human ceramides to determine their reactions to diseases.
High-Throughput 4D TIMS Method Accelerates Lipidomics Analysis
April 25th 2024Ultrahigh-pressure liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-HRMS) had been previously proposed for untargeted lipidomics analysis, but this updated approach was reported by the authors to reduce run time to 4 min.
