ASMS 2009- Day 1

June 1 — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — Good morning, and welcome to this, the opening day of LCGC’s and Spectroscopy’s ASMS E-Show Dailies from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. For the next three days, we will be covering all that is new and exciting at ASMS this year, from technical sessions to plenary lectures to the social networking that is a big part of any conference.

June 1 — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — Elemental mass spectrometry mainly targets inorganic materials, determining elemental compositions of samples rather than providing structural information. This session will cover topics such as bioimaging of metals in brain tissue, the analysis of chemical warfare agent degradation products, and the separation and quantitation of antisense oligonucleotides.

Schnoor, of the University of Iowa, entitled, “Biofuels and Global Climate Change.” This topic was especially fitting for the June conference as gas prices and temperatures are on the rise once again this summer.
