This week at the ASMS Annual Conference (held in San Diego, California), Scottish laboratory gas generation company Peak Scientific has unveiled its latest nitrogen generator, the Genius NEO, describing it as the most advanced product in the company's history.1

The Inchinnan-based manufacturer says the new generator pushes beyond previous limits in three key areas: gas purity, noise reduction, and sustainability. The launch marks the latest step in Peak's ongoing effort to bring new innovations to laboratory environments with each new product release.

Petra Gierga, Head of Product Management at Peak Scientific, said the Genius NEO was the result of an internal challenge. "We set an ambitious challenge in pushing further than we ever have before on purity," she said, adding that the team also had to rethink what noise meant to customers working in lab environments, while staying on track with the company's sustainability commitments. "I'm incredibly proud to bring this to our customers."

The company says sustainability was built into the development process from the start. The generator uses sustainably sourced components that incorporate recyclable materials and has been optimized to consume less power than its predecessors — a change Peak says will help laboratories cut both energy costs and their carbon footprint.

Several proprietary components feature in the design, which Peak says enables purity levels exceeding anything it has previously produced.

Peak Scientific manufactures nitrogen and hydrogen gas generation systems for laboratory applications including liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC–MS) and gas chromatography (GC and GC–MS). The company states that their generators produce gas on demand, allowing laboratories to reduce costs, cut their environmental impact, and avoid reliance on traditional gas cylinder supply chains.2
