The global market for biomarkers is expected to be worth $5.6 billion in 2007, and is expected to increase to over $12.8 billion by 2012. Biomarker discovery technologies tailored to drug discovery, pre-clinical studies of drug development and diagnostics research applications accounted for 47.9% of the total in 2007, expected to reach a little less than $6 billion in 2012.
