Metrohm AG (Herisau, Switzerland) has released a method for the determination of melamine in milk powder and other food using ion chromatography after in-line sample dialysis. The method reportedly is sensitive enough to quantify melamine contents below the limit set by food safety regulatory agencies around the world. The method involves the use of the company’s model 844 UV/VIS Compact IC system, which is designed for the spectrophotometric determination of polar substances, anions, and cations.
