New Chairman of the Board for Varian

Varian, Inc. (Palo Alto, California) announced that its board of directors has elected Garry W. Rogerson, the company’s president and chief executive officer, as chairman of the board. He replaces Allen J. Lauer, who retired from the board upon expiration of his director term at the annual meeting of stockholders on February 5, 2009. Lauer had more than 40 years of service with Varian, according to the company. Rogerson will continue as the company’s chief executive officer.
