Varian Acquires Precision Detectors
Varian, Inc. (Palo Alto, California) has acquired the assets and products of Precision Detectors, Inc., a privately owned company based in Bellingham, Massachusetts.
Precision Detectors manufactures chromatography detectors and software for use with GPC and SEC systems. According to the company, these detectors characterize proteins, polymers, marcomolecules, and nanoparticles using laser-based techniques that probe the interaction of light with matter.
Examining Alkaloid Profiles in Milk with LC-MS
February 10th 2025Research conducted by The Technology Transfer Center of the Edmund Mach Foundation (San Michele all'Adige, Italy) and the University of Udine (Udine, Italy) used liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-MS) to investigate alkaloid transfer from alpine pastures to milk.
The Next Frontier for Mass Spectrometry: Maximizing Ion Utilization
January 20th 2025In this podcast, Daniel DeBord, CTO of MOBILion Systems, describes a new high resolution mass spectrometry approach that promises to increase speed and sensitivity in omics applications. MOBILion recently introduced the PAMAF mode of operation, which stands for parallel accumulation with mobility aligned fragmentation. It substantially increases the fraction of ions used for mass spectrometry analysis by replacing the functionality of the quadrupole with high resolution ion mobility. Listen to learn more about this exciting new development.
