Waters Corporation (Milford, Massachusetts) has joined the BioIT Alliance, an initiative spearheaded by Microsoft Corporation (Redmond, Washington) that involves more than 80 pharmaceutical, biotech, laboratory instrument, and software companies working together to advance personalized medicine. Waters plans to contribute by working with industry leaders to develop standardized conventions for sharing scientific data based on Microsoft technology. The BioIT Alliance explores new ways to speed the pace of discovery in the life sciences by abbreviating the time between discovery of biological data and the application of that knowledge to human health.
