IDEX Health & Science introduces the new Upchurch Scientific® PEEK™-Lined Stainless Steel (PLS) Tubing. The metal-free, all-PEEK fluid path withstands up to 15,000 psi, making it the ideal choice for biocompatible UHPLC applications.
IDEX Health & Science introduces the new Upchurch Scientific® PEEK™-Lined Stainless Steel (PLS) Tubing. Coupling the chemical compatibility of PEEK with the strength of stainless steel, the metal-free, all-PEEK fluid path offered by PLS tubing can withstand up to 15,000 psi (1,035 bar), making it the ideal choice for biocompatible applications at UHPLC pressures. Incorporating patent-pending technology, PLS tubing also offers unique and innovative design features that help assure better overall dimensional tolerances (±5-15 µm, depending upon the inner diameter) over traditional PEEK tubing or stainless steel tubing.
The special design features of PLS tubing also allow it to be bent into system-specific shapes, including angles and sample loops, with no loss of performance. This allows PLS tubing to be used throughout the fluid pathway in any area where biocompatibility and high-pressure-holding ability is desired – e.g., from the pump to the injection valve, on the injection valve itself, connecting the valve to the column, etc.
PLS tubing is available in a variety of pre-manufactured lengths and with inner diameters ranging from 25 µm to 250 µm (0.001”-0.010”). Additionally, each piece of PEEK-Lined Stainless Steel Tubing ships complete with Upchurch Scientific VHP One-Piece Reusable UHPLC Fittings.

Investigating the Protective Effects of Frankincense Oil on Wound Healing with GC–MS
April 2nd 2025Frankincense essential oil is known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and therapeutic properties. A recent study investigated the protective effects of the oil in an excision wound model in rats, focusing on oxidative stress reduction, inflammatory cytokine modulation, and caspase-3 regulation; chemical composition of the oil was analyzed using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS).
Evaluating Natural Preservatives for Meat Products with Gas and Liquid Chromatography
April 1st 2025A study in Food Science & Nutrition evaluated the antioxidant and preservative effects of Epilobium angustifolium extract on beef burgers, finding that the extract influenced physicochemical properties, color stability, and lipid oxidation, with higher concentrations showing a prooxidant effect.
Rethinking Chromatography Workflows with AI and Machine Learning
April 1st 2025Interest in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to chromatography is greater than ever. In this article, we discuss data-related barriers to accomplishing this goal and how rethinking chromatography data systems can overcome them.
