The Ongoing Evolution of GC×GC

The 21st GC×GC Symposium in Riva del Garda shows two-dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC) has matured into a robust, widely applied analytical technique.

The scientific programme was broad, featuring 52 GC×GC lectures, 26 young scientist lectures, and 50 posters. That combination was significant. It meant the meeting was not centered on a handful of high-profile presentations but instead fostered broad scientific exchange, with ample space for method development, applications, and emerging research directions. In a field such as GC×GC, where progress often results from the interaction between separation science, instrumentation, and data analysis, this structure made perfect sense.
