LCGC Magazine is pleased to announce the addition of Taylor Zhang to its editorial advisory board.
Zhang is a principal scientist and group leader in protein analytical chemistry at Genentech in South San Francisco, where he has worked since 2006. Prior to his work with Genentech, Zhang was a research specialist and senior analytical biochemist at Dow Chemical. He has more than ten years of experience in bioprocess development and has authored more than 20 publications in the field of bioanalytical chemistry.
Zhang’s research interests involve using different separation techniques for therapeutic protein characterization, and developing methods for the quality control system. He and his group are responsible for analytical characterization, method development, and technical transfers for clinical and commercial products, and for evaluation and implementation of new analytical techniques into these clinical and commercial control systems of therapeutic protein drugs.
He received his PhD in analytical chemistry in 2000 from Iowa State University (Ames, Iowa), where his research focused on separation methods, primarily high throughput capillary electrophoresis coupled with on-line sample preparation.
Determining Volatile Impurities and Ethanol Content in Hand Sanitizers with GC–MS
September 10th 2024Researchers analyzed 31 different brands of hand sanitizers using headspace gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS) to assess volatile impurities and ethanol content in ethanol-based hand sanitizers.
Modern HPLC Strategies: Improving Retention and Peak Shape for Basic Analytes
August 16th 2024In high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), it is common for bases and unreacted ionized silanols on silica-based columns to cause irreproducible retention, broad peaks, and peak tailing when working with basic analytes. David S. Bell, Lead Consultant at ASKkPrime LLC offers innovative HPLC strategies that can help mitigate such issues.
