Detection and Characterization of Extractables in Food Packaging Materials by GC–MS

In this study, general extract screening of food storage materials was done with nontargeted analytical methods to understand what analytes could potentially leach into food or beverages. GC and mass spectral deconvolution effectively separated analytes within the complex mixture and TOF-MS provided full mass range spectral data for identification. This workflow can be used for confident characterization of components present as extractables from food packaging materials.

A Fast Method for Targeted Allergen Screening and Nontargeted Characterization for Personal Care Products

A gas chromatography–time-of-flight mass spectrometry method was developed to screen for and quantify regulated allergens in approximately 5 min. This method used a short and narrow chromatographic column along with mathematical deconvolution of the TOF-MS data to separate the target allergens from each other in the standards and from matrix interference in samples.

Comparison of Edible Oils by GCxGC–TOF-MS and GC–High Resolution TOF-MS for Determination of Food Fraud: A "Foodomics" Approach

Here, a method to characterize edible oils and edible oil mixtures through fingerprinting and the isolation of individual analyte differences is reported. Aroma and flavor analytes in extra virgin olive, olive, peanut, grapeseed, and vegetable oils were sampled with headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME).
