Oliver A.H. Jones

Oliver Jones is a professor of chemistry at RMIT University. Melbourne, Australia. He obtained his PhD from Imperial College London. He worked at the University of Cambridge and the University of Durham before moving to RMIT in 2012 (to get a few years’ experience working abroad). His research expertise is in the field of analytical biological and environmental chemistry. He is particularly interested in tracking the fate and behavior of pollutants in the environment. Oliver has received over 20 awards, including the National Measurement Institute Barry Inglis Medal. He has over 140 peer-reviewed publications with an h-index of 43 and over 9650 total citations.

It is often very difficult to distinguish the true source of wastewater contamination, especially where wastewater treatment plants are located in agricultural areas. Robust and sensitive techniques are needed to characterize impacts where there are multiple potential sources. This study analyzed a variety of synthetic chemicals using LC–QQQ–MS to generate unique fingerprints of pollution.
