This explainer video highlights why Analytica coming to North America is a big deal in the separation science community.

This video was made with the help of NotebookLM.

Since its founding in 1968, Analytica has taken place in Munich, Germany, bringing together scientists, instrument suppliers, vendors, and researchers under one roof to talk about the latest trends and innovations in analytical science. Its success has led to similar events being held around the world, including in China, Vietnam, India, and South Africa (1).

However, Analytica has yet to be held in North America. But that is finally changing. From September 10–12, Analytica USA will host its first conference in Columbus, Ohio (1,2). It's going to be the heart of the whole inaugural event in a city that's already known for being one of the friendliest in the country (1). So far, they're expecting over 4000 visitors and more than 200 exhibitors (1,2). For a first-time event, that's encouraging numbers.

For the first iteration of Analytica USA, there are a number of speakers lined up set to give important talks that analytical scientists and industry professionals would enjoy. We're talking everything from proteomics to the incredibly complex world of the microbiome. John McLean of Vanderbilt University is kicking things off with a talk about mapping, which is a field that could change how we discover drugs and diagnose diseases (1,2). Nikos Kyrpides of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is going to take us on a journey into that invisible world inside all of us, the microbiome. His talk will get into that vast ecosystem of microbes and viruses that has such a profound impact on our health (1,2).

Other speakers at Analytica USA include Daniel DeBoard of MOBILion, Ahmed Hamid of Auburn University, Oliver J. Schmitz of the University of Duisburg-Essen, Dwight Stoll of Gustavus Adolphus College, James Grinias of Rowan University, Martin Gilar from Waters Corporation, Robert Kennedy from the University of Michigan, and last, but not least, Robert (Chip) Cody of Jeol USA (1,2).

Analytica USA is set to be an event that lays the groundwork for future conferences to be held in North America.
