The guest authors describe the use of LC–MS for the analysis of peptides. They deal with peptide extraction, peptidomic analysis in organisms with and without genomic databases, identification of peptides with conserved N- and C- terminal sequences, and in situ MALDI-TOF peptide profiling.

In this article, the use of comprehensive two-dimensional liquid chromatography (LC×LC) coupled to mass spectrometry (MS) for characterizing glycosylation of therapeutic enzymes is presented.

Caitlin N. Cain is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Michigan. She is supported by the National Institutes of Health – National Research Service Award for Individual Postdoctoral Fellows. Her research specializes in the development of chemometric techniques to improve chromatographic non-targeted analyses. Previously, she earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Washington in 2024 and B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Forensic Science from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019. Her research efforts have been recognized by numerous accolades, including the inaugural LCGC Rising Stars of Separation Science Award. She proudly serves as an executive committee member for the ACS SCSC (Subdivision on Chromatography and Separations Chemistry).
