Key Takeaways

  • Metrohm positions IONIC as a standalone titrator that delivers cloud-based data access while preserving bench-top autonomy and eliminating dependence on a dedicated computer.
  • A 10-inch touchscreen enables drag-and-drop method creation, one-tap workflow execution, and familiar swipe/zoom navigation to accelerate routine operation and reduce user friction.

Metrohm USA's IONIC Titrator offers cloud access and a 10-inch touchscreen.

Metrohm USA has introduced the IONIC Titrator, a standalone titration system that connects directly to the cloud and features a touchscreen interface modeled on the personal devices laboratory staff use every day.1

The company says the instrument is aimed at laboratories that want easier access to their data and simpler workflows without giving up the convenience of a standalone titrator.

"IONIC represents a new approach to standalone titration," said Ed Colihan, president and CEO of Metrohm USA. "We've combined our market-leading analytical performance with a user experience that more closely resembles what our customers are used to from their personal devices. The result is a platform that makes titration easier to work with today while giving laboratories greater flexibility for the future."

The titrator is built around a 10-inch touchscreen, which Metrohm describes as industry-leading. Users can create methods by dragging and dropping steps, launch frequently used workflows with a single tap, and move through menus using the same swipe and zoom gestures found on smartphones and tablets.

A built-in mobile communication module links the IONIC directly to the Metrohm Data Service, eliminating the need for a separate computer. Through this secure cloud platform, laboratories can view and share titration data and methods from a web browser, and staff can receive instrument status alerts on their mobile devices.

The system supports both potentiometric and Karl Fischer titration and uses a compact, modular design that can be expanded with additional dosing and measuring components as a lab's needs change. A new Dosino Module offers a dosing resolution of 250,000 pulses, allowing highly precise liquid handling across a broad range of titration applications.

Headquartered in Riverview, Florida, Metrohm USA supplies laboratory and process instruments for titration, ion chromatography, electrochemistry, and spectroscopy. More information about the IONIC Titrator is available at www.metrohm.com.
