
Knauer Acquires Labomatic AG, Expands Global Preparative HPLC Portfolio and High-Flow Capabilities

Knauer Wissenschaftliche Geräte GmbH has acquired Labomatic AG (Möhlin, Switzerland). The acquisition expands the Berlin, Germany scientific equipment manufacturer’s portfolio in preparative high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), particularly with HPLC systems designed for flow rates of up to 540 liters per hour.
Knauer Wissenschaftliche Geräte GmbH has acquired Labomatic AG (Möhlin, Switzerland). The acquisition expands the Berlin, Germany scientific equipment manufacturer’s portfolio in preparative high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), particularly with HPLC systems designed for flow rates of up to 540 liters per hour. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Labomatic has been manufacturing precision chromatography and dosing systems for more than 45 years (1). Under the terms of the acquisition, Labomatic products will continue to be manufactured and distributed under the Labomatic name. Knauer will distribute Labomatic products outside of Switzerland. For larger products, Labomatic AG will continue to provide close support (1). Jan Hirsch, previously sales director at Labomatic AG, will become managing director following the acquisition (1).
Alexandra Knauer, owner and managing director of Knauer Wissenschaftliche Geräte GmbH, sees this partnership as an important step toward a stronger future.

The news comes after the companies announced a strategic cooperation in February. “This cooperation enables us to make our products accessible to a wider audience and strengthen our market presence,” said Labomatic CEO Claude Marchand in a February press release about the collaboration.
Knauer, founded in 1962, has more than 60 years of experience developing analytical and preparative HPLC systems, while Labomatic has over 40 years of expertise in preparative and process chromatography for high-flow and high-pressure applications. The collaboration leverages Knauer’s capacity for higher flow rates and pressures with Labomatic’s analytical solutions, benefiting end users, sales partners, and OEM customers.
