Waters and Rosetta Biosoftware collaborate
Waters Corporation (Milford, Massachusetts) and Rosetta Biosoftware (Seattle, Washington) recently announced a collaboration to develop interfaces that promote compatibility between their software platforms and Waters mass spectrometry-based systems. The companies will work together to ensure that the Rosetta Elucidator system, Rosetta's solution for protein expression data management and analysis, will process and analyze mass spectrometry data generated from the Waters Q-Tof Premier and Synapt High Definition Mass Spectrometry (HDMS) systems.
The collaboration will focus on developing software interfaces between the Elucidator system and Waters instrument systems that will give scientists the capability to perform comprehensive qualitative and quantitative profiling of complex biological mixtures.
Eksigent reaches Southeast Asia distribution agreement
Eksigent (Dublin, California) recently announced a distribution agreement with Bionoetikos Ltd. (Hong Kong). The agreement covers sales and service of Eksigent's NanoLC HPLC product line in Taiwan, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia.
Phenomenex reaches distribution agreement with Beckman Coulter
Phenomenex Inc. (Torrance, California) recently announced a distribution agreement for Beckman Coulter's (Fullerton, California) ProteomeLab IgY enrichment products for proteomics and biomarker discovery. The agreement grants Phenomenex exclusive distribution rights in the United States, Canada, and the European Union.
The Pittsburgh Conference announces call for papers
The Pittsburgh Conference (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) released the Call for Papers for the 59th annual Pittcon Conference and Exposition. Pittcon 2008 will be March 1–7, 2008, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Pittcon 2008 Technical Program features comprehensive coverage at the forefront of analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis. The 2008 Program Committee has selected 60 invited symposia.
The Program Committee solicits abstracts of previously unpublished findings in all aspects of instrumental analysis.
Agilent Technologies acquires Stratagene
Agilent Technologies Inc. (Wilimington, Delaware) recently announced the completion of its acquisition of Stratagene Corporation (La Jolla, California), a leading manufacturer and marketer of specialized life science research and diagnostic products. Agilent expects this strategic acquisition to accelerate its growth in life sciences through a complementary product portfolio and strong market reach into academia and government.
Inside the Laboratory: The Gionfriddo Group at the University at Buffalo
March 28th 2024In this edition of “Inside the Laboratory,” Emanuela Gionfriddo, PhD, an associate professor of chemistry at the University at Buffalo, discusses her group’s current research endeavors, including using solid-phase microextraction (SPME) coupled to liquid chromatography (LC) and gas chromatography (GC) to further understand the chemical relationship between environmental exposure and disease and elucidate micropollutants fate in the environment and biological systems.
Transferring Methods to Compact and Portable HPLC
February 14th 2024The current trend in laboratory equipment design is the miniaturization of laboratory instruments. Smaller-scale HPLC instruments offer benefits that cannot be matched by analytical-scale equipment, especially in the areas of portability, reduced fluid volumes, and reduced operating costs. Yet, the miniaturization of laboratory equipment has brought with it a unique set of challenges, including transferring methods to compact LC. Capillary LC expands the use of LC to applications not currently done using conventional LC in a wide array of application areas, including pharmaceutical, food and beverage, petrochemical, environmental, and oil and gas. Greg Ward, Axcend’s CEO wrote, “Customers want an HPLC system with a small footprint, low flow rates and green chemistry.” Join his podcast where he shares method transfer in these application areas.
