Benchtop SFC purification system

Thar Technologies has started shipping its preparative SFC 70 system. This benchtop instrument features an injection module and smaller footprint to simplify operation.

This system has a smaller aluminium frame that enables scientists to use it on a standard bench for chiral and achiral samples. Additionally, it features up to six cyclonic-like separators.

An injection mechanism allows the user to automatically inject stacked/repeated injections and quickly change samples, which ensures that the system is a safe, walk-up chiral purification system.

High sensitivity SFC flowcell

Mettler-Toledo has announced the release of a supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC)-optimized flowcell for the Agilent G1315A/B series diode array detectors. This flowcell is claimed to demonstrate baseline noise of less than 0.2 mAU peak-to-peak when used with the Berger SFC.

The Berger SFC for Agilent ChemStation provides an analytical technique that is complimentary to both LC and LC–MS in addition to expanding the range of compounds that can be quantified. SFC is ideal for the separation of difficult compounds such as chiral enantiomers and natural products.

SFE processing system

Supercritical Fluid Technologies has introduced an SFE system to investigate the feasibility of applying supercritical fluid techniques to various analyses, processing challenges and QC/QA applications. The SFT-100XW supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) system is a fully functional instrument designed to perform extractions in supercritical fluid extraction.

This system features dual sapphire syringe pump technology, which is claimed to accurately pressurize the instrument's stainless steel vessel that is capable of containing supercritical fluids at pressures up to 10000 psi. Additionally, the system accommodates pressure vessels of up to 500 mL capacity and may be configured to run with multiple vessels.

Prep SFE/SFC system with chiral detection

Jasco offers a preparative SFE/SFC system that features a versatile modular design. The main feature of the instrument is the company's patented back-pressure regulator, which allows control of system pressure regardless of solvent composition and flow-rate. The pumping system is based on the 1500 series analytical SFE/SFC system and is claimed to deliver up to 120 mL/min CO2 and 60 mL/min of modifier and flush solvents at pressures up to 35 MPa (500 psi). Additionally, injections can be manual or fully automated and repetitive injections can be performed to overlay chromatographic runs.
