The EMS2010 meeting is an environmental mass spectrometry special interest group (EMSSIG) series event forming a part of the British Mass Spectrometry Society SIG meetings and is scheduled for 24 March 2010. The main theme will focus on Recent Advances in the Methodology for Environmental and Food Matrix Analysis.

The meeting will be linked with the Food and Nutrition SIG coordinated by Dr Simon Hird and will also form part of a conference week, 22–26 March 2010, of three meetings organized by Professor Chris Smith, which will also highlight nanotechnology and food as well as food science and technology.

The provisional scientific programme is reaching an advanced stage but there are still several vacancies for oral presentations for both the environmental and food and nutrition sessions. Current topics include MS Techniques for environmental analysis: a view from a commercial analytical laboratory, Allergen detection, quantitation and confirmation in Nuts, Cereals, Milk etc by LC–MS–MS and ,i>Limitations of mass spectrometry for determining the mass range of polydisperse samples (such as coal liquids and petroleum asphaltenes).
