Microchip Biotechnologies Inc. (Dublin, California) has won a $625,000 U.S. Army contract for development of technology to rapidly detect, identify, and diagnose biological threats. The company will develop a universal sample preparation module that will incorporate its system for preparing DNA samples for analysis. The funding is part of a new program to help companies supported by the government’s Small Business Innovation Research Program to commercialize products that meet high-priority Army requirements.
