Multimodal Liquid Chromatography (LC) Systems When Characterizing Therapeutic Proteins: An ASMS Interview with Kevin Schug

At ASMS 2023, LCGC spoke with Kevin Schug of the University of Texas at Arlington. This segment previews one of several ASMS interviews that were conducted at the conference.

Schug spoke with us at ASMS 2023 in Houston, Texas, where he briefed us on his current research endeavors that involve using headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME), liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS), and multimodal LC systems for various types of analyses.

Schug is a Full Professor and the Shimadzu Distinguished Professor of Analytical Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The University of Texas (UT) at Arlington, in Arlington, Texas.

In this interview clip, Schug answers the following question:

  • What is the benefit of using a multimodal LC system when characterizing therapeutic proteins?

Our interview with Schug was one of several conducted live at ASMS 2023. Stay tuned for the full-length version of our conversation with Schug, and for our other interviews conducted at ASMS.
