Ina Varfaj

Ina Varfaj is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Perugia, working in Prof. Roccaldo Sardella’s group. She holds a degree in pharmacy and has completed a PhD in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical analysis under the supervision of Prof. Sardella and Prof. Andrea Carotti.

Her research focuses on the development and optimization of analytical methodologies for pharmaceutical and natural compounds, using advanced analytical techniques, including HPLC, LC-MS and UV–vis spectrophotometry applied to complex matrices. In particular, she has gained experience with chiral compounds both in method development and in in silico enantiorecognition mechanisms.

Passionate about science communication, she took part in and won the Separation Science Slam at HPLC 2023, and as an active member of the community, she helped out at the ‘Women in Chromatography’ stand at HPLC 2025.
