Submission Deadline: January 15, 2018
LCGC North America is seeking nominations for the 12th Annual Emerging Leader in Chromatography award, to be awarded in 2019.
The LCGC Emerging Leader in Chromatography award recognizes the achievements and aspirations of a talented young separation scientist who has made strides early in his or her career toward the advancement of chromatographic techniques or applications. The winner will be featured on the cover of a 2019 issue of LCGC and in an interview that will be featured in our electronic newsletter, e-Separation Solutions, and on the LCGC website.
A list of past winners can be found on the LCGC Awards page.
CRITERIA
Candidates for the LCGC Emerging Leader in Chromatography award must work in the field of separation science. In 2019, candidates must be within 10 years of receiving their highest degree, and must have made significant practical contributions to the field of separation science that have helped advance the state of the art in the fundamentals or application of chromatography. Weight will be given to candidates who have taken a leadership role at their university, institute, or place of business.

The Complexity of Oligonucleotide Separations
January 9th 2025Peter Pellegrinelli, Applications Specialist at Advanced Materials Technology (AMT) explains the complexity of oligonucleotide separations due to the unique chemical properties of these molecules. Issues such as varying length, sequence complexity, and hydrophilic-hydrophobic characteristics make efficient separations difficult. Separation scientists are addressing these challenges by modifying mobile phase compositions, using varying ion-pairing reagents, and exploring alternative separation modes like HILIC and ion-exchange chromatography. Due to these complexities, AMT has introduced the HALO® OLIGO column, which offers high-resolution, fast separations through its innovative Fused-Core® technology and high pH stability. Alongside explaining the new column, Peter looks to the future of these separations and what is next to come.
Investigating Plastic Contamination in Olive Oil with GC–MS/MS
January 17th 2025The objective of this study was to investigate contamination by 32 plasticizers in olive oil throughout its production and packaging process. Separation and detection were carried out by gas chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (GC–MS/MS), without the need for pre-concentration steps.
