Episode 1: Introduction to Supercritical Fluid Chromatography

In this podcast series, we’ll be discussing how users can benefit from supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) in their laboratories. Amongst its many advantages, this technology can be utilized in both the analysis and purification of various chemical compounds, and is regarded as a green technology by many companies actively pursuing greater efficiency in their labs.

Through a variety of topics and scientific examples, this series will help you to gain a better understanding of SFC technology, how to realize the benefits of this technique, and how to easily adopt SFC technology to your lab.

Considered a leading “green” analytical and purification technology, SFC systems are used to separate, isolate, quantify, and purify chemical compounds. The principles of SFC are similar to those of liquid chromatography; however SFC typically uses carbon dioxide as the main mobile phase. Carbon dioxide offers environmental and cost benefits compared to traditional liquid chromatography solvents. In this episode we will provide an overview of SFC, and the advantages it brings to today’s laboratory.
