Event Overview:

21 CFR 11 regulations have allowed the use of electronic signatures in regulated labs for more than 20 years. Yet today, many organisations still rely on paper-based processes. Technology continues to evolve—and so should lab operations. The time has come to harness advances in laboratory informatics and automate analytical processes. The question is how. What are the key considerations in adopting automated, all-digital workflows? What are the primary obstacles today? Which solutions have the potential to streamline workflows and compliance processes? This two-part webcast addresses these questions and more.

Part 1 looks where we are now. It summarizes how and why laboratories continue to operate with hybrid systems, spreadsheets, and manual tasks. This is followed by an overview of the various informatics tools available, e.g. LIMS, ELN, LES etc., and the issues of implementing and using these solutions correctly. Part 1 also examines the business case for automation, considering both the tangible and intangible benefits for the organisation.

Part 2 discusses how to develop a digitalization and automation strategy for the laboratory. It reviews the key steps for implementing applications and automating processes in ways that add maximum value to the laboratory, then discusses the stages of a typical project to demonstrate how automated processes can help maximize lab efficiency, productivity, and compliance operations.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Practical steps in developing a laboratory automation strategy
  • How to map and streamline a process before implementing a LIMS or other informatics solution
  • Understand the difference between configuration and customisation and how each can impact implementation timeframes
  • Know and apply the three principles of laboratory automation
  • Understand the key stages of a implementation project for an end-to end workflow solution and why they are important
  • Discover how Agilent workflow solutions will help you manage all your lab content, context, and results
