Recent Advances in Gas Chromatography will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester, UK.

The Chromatographic Society (ChromSoc) is pleased to announce an important date in the calendar for GC users: Recent Advances in Gas Chromatography, which will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester, UK.

Past, Present, and Future

This meeting will review past developments, consider recent advances, and provide a perspective on the possible future developments in gas chromatography (GC). The meeting will cover advances in automation, new sample introduction techniques, the latest instrumentation, developments in artificial intelligence to deal with difficult sample matrices, challenging separations, lower detection limits, and more. This year also encompasses a roundtable discussion, featuring speakers, vendors, and the audience.

Scientific Program

Confirmed lectures include:

  • A Look Back on Advancements in GC Over the Decades: Dan Carrier (Da Vinci UK and Ireland, Cambridge, UK)
  • Gas Chromatography of The Future: Tony Taylor (Element Lab Solutions, Cambridge, UK)
  • Enhancing Sensitivity Using Vacuum ITEX: Applications in Clinical Diagnostics and Biotechnology (Katherine Hollywood, University of Manchester, Manchester, UK)
  • High-Performance, Web-based Computer Modeling Tools to Simulate Gas Chromatography Separations Using AI: Jaap de Zeeuw (Creavisions, The Netherlands)
  • The Use of Statistics in GC – From Design of Experiment to Data Analysis: Kathy Ridgeway (Da Vinci UK and Ireland)
  • GC–MS Steroid Profiling, Past Lessons, Present Practice, and Future Horizons: Angela Taylor (University of Birmingham, Birmingham, UK)
  • New Dimensions in the Non-targeted Screening of Complex Samples and Software-assisted Identification of Discriminatory Compounds: Geraint (Taff) Morgan (University of Southampton, Southampton, UK)
  • Gas Analysis and Reactor Monitoring: Old Challenges and New Technology: Tom Throup (Shimadzu, UK)

More speakers will be confirmed.

Innovation Roundtable

A new addition to the conference this year will be an invigorating roundtable discussion where delegates, presenters, and exhibitors can debate and define the future of GC, helping to shape the prospects of this important (and sometimes underrated) technique!
