Janusz Pawliszyn Wins the Pittsburgh Analytical Chemistry Award
The 2017 Pittsburgh Analytical Chemistry Award has been presented to Janusz Pawliszyn of the University of Waterloo, Canada.
The 2017 Pittsburgh Analytical Chemistry Award has been presented to Janusz Pawliszyn of the University of Waterloo, Canada. The award is presented by the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh and is presented in recognition of an individual’s contributions to the field of analytical chemistry.
Pawliszyn's research focuses on the design of highly automated and integrated instrumentation for the isolation of analytes from complex matrices and the subsequent separation, identification, and determination of these species. His research is currently focused on the elimination of organic solvents from the sample preparation step to facilitate on-site monitoring and in vivo analysis. He is also exploring the application of computational and modelling techniques to enhance performance of sample preparation, chromatographic separations, and detection. His major area of interest involves the development and application of imaging detection techniques. He is also on the LCGC Europe editorial advisory board.
