The 44th International Symposium on Capillary Chromatography (ISCC) and 21st GC×GC Symposium will be held from Sunday through Friday, May 17–22, 2026, in the Congress Centre in Riva del Garda, Italy.

The ISCC Conference and GC×GC Symposium is an annual global forum for pressure and electro-driven microcolumn separations and related techniques, dedicated to advancing chromatography science through presentations, discussions, and collaborations on topics ranging from column technology to instrument design and data analysis.

The congress invites analytical chemists, researchers, and industry professionals to explore cutting-edge research and collaborate on future directions in capillary-based separations, offering a platform to share insights and foster new ideas in the field.

Since its first edition in 1975 in Hindelang (Germany), the ISCC symposium series has established its reputation as a premier event for microcolumn separation techniques, including capillary gas chromatography (GC), microcolumn liquid chromatography (LC), and electromigration techniques.

Past meetings have been held in Riva del Garda (Italy), Monterey (California), Baltimore (Maryland), Gifu (Japan), Kobe (Japan), Wintergreen (Virginia), Park City (Utah), Las Vegas (Nevada), Dalian (China), Albuquerque (New Mexico), Portland (California), San Diego (California), Palm Springs (California), and Fort Worth (Texas).

The format and atmosphere of the 44th meeting will be like those of previous events, which have been hosted in Riva del Garda in even‑numbered years. The six-day conference will feature lecture and poster presentations from leading academic and industrial experts, presenting the latest developments in the fields of miniaturized, hyphenated, and multidimensional separation techniques.

Furthermore, this year, special emphasis will be placed on the integration of capillary chromatography with various forms of mass spectrometry (MS), as well as on nano- and capillary LC and miniaturized sample preparation, with a strong focus on data analytics and sustainable technologies.

The conference will feature sessions on capillary GC, microcolumn LC, electromigration methods, and micro‑fabricated analytical systems, which are expected to cover lab-on-a-chip, column technology, coupled and multidimensional techniques, comprehensive techniques, hyphenated techniques, sampling and sample preparation, trace analysis, and automation.

To accommodate the growing interest in comprehensive techniques, the 21st GC×GC symposium will be held during the same period, enabling scientists to participate in both meetings. The opening ceremony will follow on Monday, May 18, 2026, with a plenary session. Short courses will be presented by experts in the field, covering the fundamentals and applications of GC×GC and LC×LC on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

For both meetings, abstracts for consideration as lecture or poster presentations can be submitted online at www.chromaleont.it/iscc. All abstracts will be reviewed based on scientific merit, novelty, and practical applicability.

Application sessions will include environmental, energy/petrochemical/industrial, biomedical and pharmaceuticals, and the analysis of natural products, food, flavors, and fragrances. Workshop seminars presented by leading instrument manufacturers and a huge exhibition of instrumentation, accessories, and supplies will run in parallel to the scientific program.

During the meeting, prestigious awards and prizes will be presented to selected winners.

Aiming to encourage the participation of young researchers at both symposia, several grants and scholarships will be offered by scientific societies and companies, allowing PhD students or academic postdocs to attend and present their work (more information is constantly updated at www.chromaleont.it/iscc).

The scientific program will be supplemented with the well-known “Riva Social Program,” providing opportunities for networking, relaxation, and cultural experiences outside of the formal sessions. Social events, including a welcome reception, cocktail party, and farewell cocktail, will allow attendees to connect in a more informal setting, fostering community and friendship building.
