One of the highlights of the HPLC2013 afternoon sessions on Tuesday 18 June 2013 is the keynote presentation given by Mark Schure on Challenging the Present State-of-the-Art of Polymer Separations. Ed Bouvier will discuss Advances in Size Characterization of Synthetic Polymers and Wilfred Niessen will describe the Role of MS in Post-column On-line/At-line Bioactivity Screening. There will also be a discussion on the future of polymer analysis.

The first Uwe D. Neue Award was presented at HPLC 2013 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to Joseph Jack Kirkland on June 18, 2013.

The morning sessions of at HPLC2013 on Tuesday 18 June 2013 will begin with the Uwe D. Neue Award presentation to Joseph Jack Kirkland by Martin Gilmar and Georges Guichon. Jack Kirkland will then give a keynote presentation called Optimized Superficially Porous Particles for Protein Analysis. This will be followed by a talk by Gert Desmet on Understanding the Fine Details of the Band Broadening Processes in LC. Professor Boguslaw Buszewski will discuss LC?MSn Study of Biomarker Metabolites of Human Diseases and Paola Dugo will reveal her insights into Comprehensive Two-Dimensional Liquid Chromatography in an illuminating tutorial session

GC-MS is the most widespread tandem technique in the analytical instrumentation industry and is employed in many different industries, particularly for environmental, chemical, and toxicological applications.

The China Chromatography Network will participate in the "2013 World Biochemistry Analytical Instruments and Laboratory Equipment Exhibition in China" (2013 LAB World China), taking place at the Shanghai New International Expo Center on June 25.

The nature of retention time changes in HPLC tends to fall into categories. Firstly, the retention time may "drift" over several injections or several analytical campaigns and secondly, the retention time may suddenly "jump to a different value between injections or between analytical campaigns (i.e. analyte retention times are very different to when that method was run last).
