Selected highlights of innovative chromatography products.

The 3rd African Liquid Chromatography Workshop was held on 6–10 October 2014 in Nairobi, Kenya, at the ChromAfrica Training Centre.

A program was formulated to help educate public opinion leaders on the fundamentals of unconventional natural gas and oil extraction, to convey the current state of research on the topic, and to disseminate and discuss prospective regulations that have been formulated over the past two to three years.

New GC products - including gas chromatographs, systems, accessories and columns

LCGC Magazine is pleased to announce the addition of Douglas E. Raynie to its editorial advisory board.

Synthetic oligonucleotides have become increasingly popular as a result of the recent discovery of ribonucleic acid interference (RNAi), a natural process for silencing gene expression.

This study presents results of gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and analytical temperature rising elution fractionation (TREF) of polyethylene in butylal (dibutoxymethane, a halogen-free solvent).

This article describes a new, single method to replace the two-method approach using United States EPA Methods TO-15 and TO-13A for the analysis of both VOCs and SVOCs in air.

To obtain sensitive, robust, and reproducible gas chromatography (GC) methods, each stage of the chromatographic process needs to be carefully considered and optimized. It is also important to record and report as much detail within the method specification so that the method can be reproduced between operators, instruments, and laboratories. Table I represents a "blueprint" method specification with all of the information that is necessary to faithfully specify and reproduce a split–splitless GC method.

Fluorescence-detection size-exclusion chromatography and its implications in protein characterization, specifically the development and characterization of biologics, is reviewed.

In this article, we discuss the role of the gradient in protein separations by reversed-phase and ionexchange high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

This study presents results of gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and analytical temperature rising elution fractionation (TREF) of polyethylene in butylal (dibutoxymethane, a halogen-free solvent).

This article reports on the physical phenomena that control column efficiency and on experimental protocols designed to accurately measure their contributions to band broadening of analytes during their passage from the injection to the detection device. The results of these protocols are analyzed, allowing for the accurate determination of the complete mass transfer mechanism in different separation modes and providing solutions and future directions to further improve the efficiency of liquid chromatography columns.
